My name is Kirsten and I moved to NZ from England in 2003. I live with my husband Toby and our 2 girls. I have always loved taking photos but didn't do it as a profession until 2014. I started in sport, Toby races motorbikes so we were always at the track. I couldn't go out on the track to photograph the bikes in action because I had to stay close by to look after the kids. So it was the people in the pits I focused on. Turned out it was actually the people I liked to photograph the most, so much emotion everywhere, I took natural candid photos of everything that was going on, people had never seen these kind of photos before and they loved them. From sport I naturally started shooting families and kids (not literally), again just in the same natural kind of style. I didn't move into weddings until more recently, the truth is I was nervous, such a huge responsibility capturing someone's big day but in 2015 I shot a friends wedding in Vanuatu and absolutely loved it. It would seem that sport and weddings weren't much different, loads of emotion, lots of things going on and loads of love.
It took me a while to accept that what I saw through the lens wasn't the same as what most other people saw. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE taking photos and feel blessed to be in a position where I can do something that makes people smile (or cry) every time and when it comes to weddings, for you to be able to relive your wedding day by watching a slideshow of my photos, or flicking through an album is priceless.
If you would like to know more info I'd be happy to meet up over coffee or wine or we can Skype if you're not in Auckland. I got married last year so aside from being an experienced wedding photographer I feel like a bit of a pro when it comes to being a bride too and have loads of tips and advice that might help you with things at this time! Feel free to send me through some details by filling out my contact form, i'd love to know what you've got planned.
I very much look forward to hearing from you.
